SMILE MAKEOVER

SMILE MAKEOVER IN WESTLAKE VILLAGE

A smile makeover is not a single treatment. It is a coordinated plan that combines the right procedures in the right sequence to get you from where your smile is today to where you want it to be. At Westlake Smile Design, Dr. Hakimi and Dr. Eben have been doing this work for over 30 years, and no two plans look exactly alike because no two patients have exactly the same goals.

WHAT A SMILE MAKEOVER ACTUALLY INVOLVES

People use the phrase 'smile makeover' to mean a lot of different things. Sometimes it means a full transformation involving multiple procedures over several months. Sometimes it means two visits and a set of veneers. The scope depends entirely on the starting point and the finish line.

Here at Westlake Smile Design, we define a smile makeover the same way we think about any cosmetic plan: it is a deliberate, sequenced approach to improving your smile that takes your teeth, your bite, your facial structure, and your personal goals into account before recommending anything. We do not lead with a treatment list. We lead with a conversation.

That conversation covers things like what bothers you about your smile right now, what you have tried before, what kind of result you are hoping for, and how much change you are comfortable with. Some patients want the most dramatic transformation possible. Others want results that are beautiful but subtle enough that people say 'you look great' without being able to name why. Both are valid goals, and we approach them differently.

THE TREATMENTS WE COMBINE IN A SMILE MAKEOVER

A smile makeover at our Westlake Village dental office can include any combination of the following, depending on what your case calls for:

PORCELAIN VENEERS

Veneers are thin porcelain shells bonded to the front surface of your teeth. They let us address color, shape, size, spacing, and surface texture in a single treatment, and when done well, the results look completely natural. We work with each patient on the design phase before any tooth preparation begins, so you know exactly what to expect.

Veneers are well-suited for teeth that are chipped, discolored, unevenly spaced, or slightly misaligned. They have a longer life expectancy and better color stability than dental bonding, and they are highly resistant to staining from coffee, tea, and other common culprits.

LUMINEERS

Lumineers are a brand of ultra-thin porcelain veneer that requires little to no tooth reduction. For patients who are concerned about preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible, Lumineers are worth discussing. They are not the right choice for every case, but for the right candidate, they deliver beautiful results with a more conservative approach.

ZOOM 2 TEETH WHITENING

Professional in-office whitening with ZOOM 2 is often the starting point of a smile makeover plan, or sometimes the only step a patient needs. The process takes about an hour and produces a level of whitening that no over-the-counter product can match. For patients planning veneers or other cosmetic work, we typically complete whitening first so any restoration can be matched to the new, brighter baseline.

INVISALIGN

When alignment is part of the picture, Invisalign can be an important step in the makeover sequence. Straightening teeth before placing veneers or doing other cosmetic work means the restorations are built on a properly aligned foundation, which improves both the longevity of the result and the overall aesthetics. We offer complimentary Invisalign consultations that include a digital preview of your projected alignment.

COSMETIC CROWNS

For teeth with more significant structural issues, a crown covers the entire visible tooth rather than just the front surface. Crowns are also the restoration of choice when a tooth has been heavily restored before or when there is not enough healthy structure for a veneer. In a smile makeover context, cosmetic crowns are matched in shade and shape to the surrounding teeth so the result is seamless.

TOOTH-COLORED FILLINGS

Older silver amalgam fillings can stand out noticeably against the natural tooth color around them, and replacing them with tooth-colored composite is sometimes part of a broader makeover plan. The process is straightforward and the results blend naturally.

HOW WE BUILD YOUR SMILE MAKEOVER PLAN

  1. THE CONSULTATION

The first appointment is always a conversation. We look at your teeth, take note of what you mention as concerns, and discuss what is possible given your current oral health. There is no pressure at the consultation and no treatment plan pushed on you. We want to make sure you leave with enough information to make a decision that actually feels right.

  2. TREATMENT PLANNING

Once we know your goals and have a full picture of your dental health, we put together a sequenced treatment plan. The sequencing matters. Certain treatments need to happen before others for the results to be predictable and lasting. We walk you through the plan step by step, including the timeline and what each phase involves.

  3. TREATMENT

We carry out the plan at a pace that works for your schedule. Some smile makeovers complete in two or three appointments. Others span several months, particularly when Invisalign is part of the plan. We stay in communication throughout and adjust if anything changes.

  4. THE FINISH

When treatment is complete, we do a final review to confirm everything looks and functions the way it should. We also discuss how to care for your results long-term, because a well-maintained smile makeover should last for many years.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A SMILE MAKEOVER?

Almost any adult with healthy gums and enough tooth structure to work with is a potential candidate. That said, a smile makeover works best when the underlying oral health is in good shape. If there is active gum disease, significant decay, or bite issues that need addressing first, we take care of those before moving into cosmetic work.

Patients who get the best results from smile makeovers tend to be specific about what they want, realistic about the process, and committed to the aftercare. That is most people. If you have been thinking about making a change to your smile for a while and have not found a clear path forward, a consultation is the right first step.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SMILE MAKEOVER IN WESTLAKE VILLAGE

A smile makeover is a personalized combination of cosmetic dental treatments designed to address your specific concerns. At Westlake Smile Design, a makeover plan might include porcelain veneers, Lumineers, ZOOM 2 whitening, Invisalign, cosmetic crowns, or tooth-colored fillings, in whatever combination makes sense for your case. The plan is built around your goals, not a standard package.
The cost varies significantly depending on how many treatments are involved and what each treatment requires. A plan that includes Invisalign and veneers will cost more than a plan that is whitening and two veneers. We provide a clear, itemized cost estimate at your consultation appointment so you know exactly what to expect before committing to anything.
It depends on the treatments involved. A plan that includes Invisalign will take longer than one that does not, since alignment treatment typically runs 12 to 18 months. A makeover that is primarily veneers and whitening can often be completed in three to four appointments over a few weeks. We give each patient a realistic timeline at the planning stage.
No. Many patients phase their smile makeover over time, starting with the treatments that matter most to them or fit their schedule and budget, and adding others as they go. We plan the sequence carefully so that treatments done in different phases work together toward the same result.
Cosmetic treatments like veneers and whitening are typically not covered by insurance, as they are considered elective procedures. Some components of a smile makeover, such as crowns placed for structural reasons, may have partial coverage. We review your insurance at your consultation and are transparent about what will and will not be covered before any plan is finalized.
